Goodbye for now...

Today is my last full day in Honduras. I cannot believe my time with this job is over! I will really miss the kids I worked with and the family. They were so fun and so good to me. I've been praying for a smooth transition back into US life. I have to hit the ground running! I have people to visit (My first niece was born on Saturday!!) , road trips to take, support letters for next year to send out, classes to take, re-certifications to get, camp prep to do, packing and organizing to do. I'm a little overwhelmed with my "to-do" list but I know it will all get done. I'm equal parts happy and sad to be leaving this beautiful country. If I were not coming back in August, I would be a total mess. The relationships I made this year are SO precious to me and God has taught me a lot through this whole experience. I am however, looking forward to seeing friends and family and working at my camp again this summer. Excited to be going home, but sad to be leaving sums up what I'm feeling!

This is truth: God is good and faithful no matter what circumstance you're going through. No matter what. I feel God doing a work in my heart and it's all centered around these two passages in scripture: Matthew 25: 31-46 and Isaiah 58: 6-11. They are challenging me to ask myself what I have really done to help people and what do I plan to do about it in the future - as in tomorrow.

A friend just called me and said, "Someone told me you are leaving tomorrow!! Why didn't you say goodbye??" I told him, "Sorry! I hate goodbyes! But I'll be back in August!" He told me that is not good enough, that I need to say bye to people even if I don't want to because I can't be 100% sure I will see them again. I guess he's right...it was sweet of him to call, but it started the tears for me. :(

OK that is all I will write for now. I'm sure you'll see a "Adjusting" post from me in a couple weeks and I'll try to keep you all updated on my fundraising and my needs for the coming year. I'll be back in Honduras working as a teacher at Destino Del Reino come August, in case any of you had forgotten!! I hope to see many of you soon! Now enjoy these pics of my hilarious friends :D
